Some Assembly Required

Do you work off of “to do” lists?  I do.  It seems the older I get the
more important it is that I have my lists.  My  mind is much better in
the morning and it is for that reason that I keep pen and pad at my
dressing table.  Because when that thought comes to mind, I need to write
it down right then and there.  Otherwise it may be gone forever.

I am also a planner.  Ask anyone who has ever gone on a trip with me.  I
become almost obsessive about making plans for those few days on vacation.
I certainly don’t want to miss out on anything.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could take a peek at God’s “to do” list
for us?  I sometimes think my life would be so much simpler if I could
just get a glimpse of the blueprints.  Then maybe it would be easier
when I came to an intersection to know which way to go.

I guess that would be like peeking at the answers in the back of the book before you
took the test.  We aren’t complete yet, some assembly is required.  And
facing those daily obstacles without a blueprint is part of the journey.

Good thing we get to keep our “to do” list though.  And right on top,
in front of all the other things to do, we need to make time for God.
If we’ve left that off the list, none of the others make any difference.

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight  Psalm
119:35
